Winnie, who has been a beneficiary of Link Age Southwark’s services since we started in 1993 and who turned 100 this year, is our poster girl for our Big Give Christmas Challenge campaign. Winnie says about the charity: ‘It’s like a family. People belong together, I know that the people who come to Link Age Southwark all want to get out from their four walls.” Over the years Winnie has attended many different groups run by the charity and is currently our reigning dominoes queen.

Our groups have been the focus of our Big Give Christmas Challenge fundraising campaign this year. We offer twenty social, exercise and activity groups including dementia specialist groups. We run them in a range of settings including sheltered housing, local churches and local community centres. For many of our service users the group is the main reason they choose to leave their homes and interact with others. Winnie says of her experience with our groups: “all the friendships I’ve made. I’ve got to know different people, different ways of life, different cultures.”

Your support for this year’s Big Give Christmas Challenge is hugely appreciated. We will use the funds to ensure that others like Winnie can leave their homes and attend a warm, safe and comfortable space to socialise, exercise and interact with their peers, our volunteers and our staff.

Every pound you donated has been doubled by money from our pledge pot. Therefore we exceeded our target this year and raised £16,610! From all of us at Link Age Southwark we want to say a huge thank you!

Thank you for donating to our Big Give Christmas Challenge
