Practical Guidelines and Frequently Asked Questions

This is a reference document for all volunteers, separated into the different volunteer roles alongside guidance on what you should do in common scenarios which you may face as part of your volunteering.

Safeguarding Factsheet

Outlines what safeguarding is, what abuse is and what you should do if you witness, have suspicions or someone discloses to you abuse of any kind.

Volunteer Driver Guidelines

This covers everything you need to know if you are a volunteer driver including the requirements of being a driver, taking on a driving task, passenger safety, expenses and parking.

Telephone Buddying Guidelines

Conversation pointers, things to remember when talking to a service user on the phone and boundaries around telephone buddying. 

Confidentiality Policy

Our policy on respecting confidentiality and the disclosure of personal information or data about any service user. You will have signed a copy of this at the volunteer induction.

Volunteer Expenses Form

Download and complete this form to claim out of pocket expenses. All completed forms should be submitted to the office including all receipts or proof of expenditure. The completed form can be emailed or posted. Please ensure you claim within one month of expenditure.

Hints and tips on activities you can do with your service user in your role as a volunteer befriender. These ideas are tailored towards a person living with dementia but they can be used in any befriending match.
