About us Impact Case studies Luciano; 'I love to learn' Luciano is a former professional accordion player and pianist from near Milan, Italy. He moved to London in 1955. Luciano’s love and passion for music led him to join our singing group. He also requested support with learning the basics and developing his confidence in using his laptop and making better use of his electric piano. To develop these skills, he was buddied up with our volunteer, Omama. Digital buddies offer 6 weeks of home-based support. Luciano says: “My experience has been good, Omama is fantastic, she knows everything!” With Omama’s help, Luciano has learned to operate his laptop, search the internet, and set up his electric piano. Omama has watched his confidence grow: “Luciano has learned a lot, and I have also learned a lot from him. His drive is motivating and a reminder that it’s never too late to learn something new.” As well as his new technical knowledge, Luciano feels the support from Link Age Southwark makes him ‘feel less alone.’ Your support helps reduce loneliness and isolation amongst older people and those living with dementia. We recruit, train and manage volunteers to deliver our services which are free to everyone aged over 60, people with dementia and their carers who live in Southwark.
